Byron Development Centre

Hi and welcome to the Byron Development Centre (BDC)!

The BDC was created to give girls and boys more opportunities to play football in a safe and engaging environment. Basic skills taught are; ball mastery, dribbling, passing, skills, turning & shooting. We will also implement team games such as 2v2 or small sided games and introduce different football themes throughout the course of a season.

The BDC is open to both players who have just started their football journey plus more experienced players. As we grow, we will naturally start to divide the children who want to play for fun from those who are on a pathway to team formation. The aim is to get each player to a proficient standard where they will be ready to join or even potentially form a team should there be an opportunity at Byron Red Star FC.

We currently aim to create 4 teams each year when children enter year 1, but we expect other opportunities to arise at various other age groups.

All sessions are run by Level 1 coaches who are first aid & safeguarding trained and complemented by paid coaches to ensure we always have sufficient coaching cover.

We are over Bower Park outside on 2G on Tuesdays, 6.30pm - 7.30pm.

Please ensure your child:

  • has a water bottle

  • wears light sports clothing incl base layer for legs

  • wears astroturf trainers and shin pads

Before you attend your first session, please register your child’s details here, this will give us important information to help us better ensure your child is placed with similar abled players.

Fees:

  • 1st session - FREE

  • Then £35 a month thereafter.

Bank details are available on the BDC Community WhatsApp group.

We are a not-for-profit football club and charge fees to cover the cost of running the sessions and hiring the facility, however we pride ourselves on being a club that is open to all children so if you are facing financial difficulty we can offer discounted rates depending on the individual circumstances, please speak to David Game on 07841 875252 for a discreet conversation if this is relevant to you.

Finally, please ensure you remain available to your child throughout the session in case toilet breaks are needed, which are in the building adjoining the car park and astroturf.
